Once again, some idiot jumped into GuGu’s enclosure at the Beijing Zoo. Last year it was a drunken man who wanted to hug him, this year it was a teenage boy who was ‘just curious’. As with any animal, including humans, when frightened a panda will protect himself any way he deems necessary.

Unfortunately for GuGu there seems to be an abundance of dumb humans who want to cuddle him.

Poor GuGu, he just wants to be left alone.

No, that’s not a typo, there really are Funkey pandas. The newest craze for younger kids is an interactive computer toy called U.B Funkeys, and they happen to have a cute collectible panda species.

Funkeys are small, colorful characters that inhabit Funkeytown, in a virtual world called Terrapinia. Players navigate a number of zones and portals where they play games to earn coins. With their coins they can buy items to customize their homes, referred to as “cribs” in the game. Each Funkey acts like a key that grants access to new zones in the game. Users progress through the game as they collect different figures.

The starter kit and individual Funkeys are available almost everywhere toys are sold. Online, they’re available at Amazon from $5 to $50 dollars.
