Panda Keys

Why not make opening locked doors more fun. How? With a panda key, of course!

This one is only available in bulk, but who wouldn’t love to get a blank panda key as a gift? PaintedKeys.com $21.00 for 10

Instead of actual panda keys, you can also get adorable panda key covers. These three are available at Hot Topic stores (I bet there’s probably one in a mall near you) or online. Pink panda key cover, $3.99

Panda Sounds Clock

When this clock strikes 9:00, you’ll be treated to the gentle sounds of the giant panda. They don’t have the actual sounds available to listen to on their site, but I imagine the panda sounds will be similar to these (RealPlayer Audio).

Available from Skymall for $49.95.

Made in China Pandas

I enjoy the Made in China website even though most of the things aren’t available in the US. It’s a site for wholesalers in China to make contacts and show their products to distributors around the world. It’s possible to purchase directly from the wholesalers, but you have to buy in gross. So unless you’re interested in giving everyone you know the same gift for their birthdays, you might want to reconsider.

Here are a few of the more interesting products I’ve found on the site recently.

Panda Ethanol

panda-ethanol.JPG

It’s no secret that I’m a tree hugging hippie vegetarian from Colorado, so when I first read about Panda Ethanol, I was doubly excited. Panda related and environmentally friendly. Of course, companies tend to use the panda as their symbol to emphasize their eco-friendliness, so it’s not so unexpected. The company has started construction on their first bio-mass fueled ethanol plant in Texas. From their site:

Panda Ethanol is working to help meet the nation’s need for clean, economic, alternative energy, which will decrease our dependence on hydrocarbons and foreign oil. Once complete, Panda’s five proposed 115 million gallon-per-year denatured ethanol refineries will supply the nation with clean-burning, renewable ethanol to help accomplish this goal.

Four of these state-of-the-art facilities will be fueled by gasifying cattle manure, a renewable fuel source, rather than using non-renewable fuels like gas or coal. Panda Ethanol’s commitment to such innovative technology ensures its production process is economical and energy efficient from start to finish.

A more appropriate name probably would’ve been Cattle Poo Ethanol, but it doesn’t exactly have the same consumer friendly draw to it, does it?

You can watch a news piece from Reuters, too.

Happy St. Panda’s Day!

It’s St. Patrick’s Day (well, that could be debated…) and what better way to celebrate it than with pandas?!

How about a little Irish panda gear? You can dress your baby up in a festive onesie from Happy Panda Baby for $20.00.

Panda Plane

Apparently I’m almost a year late on this news, but I didn’t even care because it’s so absolutely awesome. ANA, a Japanese airline is celebrating its 20th anniversary for flights to China. (Except this happened last year, so come July 2008 it’ll be celebrating it’s 21st year.) For the anniversary ANA designed a panda plane. How. Amazingly. Fun.

Everything panda you can imagine is included. The food, the chairs, the guest sitting next to you. I’m in love and I want to fly to Japan just to fly to China on this plane. I’m such a geek.

Alcoholic Panda Umbrella

This isn’t available for sale in the US as far as I know, but I couldn’t help but fall in love with it. It’s an adorable panda umbrella that was probably bought overseas. Unfortunately, he’s a little drunk panda because as it says, alcohol is his soul mate. Found on Ceruleansky’s Flickr photostream.

Flying Panda Magnet

Available from PandasProducts.com, this is a magnetic 3D panda that gives the illusion that it’s walking through the glass. I’d imagine the glass would have to be fairly thin, and I don’t think I’d want a panda butt sticking outside my window for the neighbors to ponder, so I’m not sure where you’d actually use this. But, it’s cute nonetheless. Only $5.95.

Panda Massager

I don’t speak Swedish, but I know that this a panda head massager and it retails for 85 Krona, which is about $14.00. That’s all I can decipher, but I thought it was cute, so I wanted to include it. You can buy it at Yuki-uki. I love that name.

Burning Panda

According to the YouTube video and several other sources, this video is of a giant (literally!) burning panda being projected onto the side of buildings in Denmark. He’s one mad panda. Apparently they’re trying to bring awareness to the upcoming International Climate Conference being held in 2009. Mission accomplished.
