Announce that Panda Birth in Style!

So, all I can think about is the cute baby panda at the Atlanta Zoo.  I’m so excited I almost want to send out announcements! If I did, you can be certain I’d be sending them out sealed with wax and a cute panda!

Though actual handwritten correspondence is rare these days, it’s something I love to do. I think it makes the recipient feel special and cared about. Also, I love to receive handwritten mail – who doesn’t?! Adding a wax seal with an adorable panda impression would make the letter even more meaningful, so why not go the extra step?!

You can purchase this beautiful wax stamp for only $11.50 at Amazon.com; even if just for a desktop decoration.

Yay! Atlanta Panda Baby Born!

It’s official! The newest panda cub was born tonight at 10:10pm Atlanta time! How exciting! You can read about the birth here, watch mama and cub here, and read updates here. We all know what a great mama Lun Lun is, so I know it’ll be a pleasure to watch her nurture her little cubbie!

Great. Now I’ll be glued to the computer even more watching the little cub grow! While I’m a little disappointed that the baby wasn’t born on my birthday, how can you be sad when a panda baby is born?!

Also, thanks again to Frances for alerting me, you’re awesome!

Congratulations Nicole!

Thanks to everyone who participated in the ShanaLogic and Perfect Pandas giveaway! It’s been amazing to see how many readers I have all over the world, not just in the US! I’ll be sending out the PandaBands to the winners this weekend (hopefully!) and I’ve just selected the winner for the $25.00 gift certificate to ShanaLogic.com!

I used the random number generator on Random.org and it chose  entry number 8 out of the 37 entries.

So, congratulations to Nicole! It just so happens that she also linked to one of my favorite pieces at ShanaLogic, the compass earrings. Too cute!

Also, keep your eyes peeled for new giveaways. In order to celebrate the one year anniversary of Perfect Pandas, I’ll be announcing a new giveaway for each week in September!

Sad Panda News

It makes me so sad to report this, especially after yesterday’s excitement about the Atlanta Zoo pregnancy, but the newborn panda born at the Oji Zoo in Japan has passed away after only 3 days on this earth.

I just saw the footage of the cub being born yesterday and couldn’t wait to share it with you guys. If you’d like to see it, you can here.

It’s thought that the panda died due to excessively strong hugging from its mother, or simply from not drinking enough milk.

Panda Baby on the Way!

It’s official! Lun Lun, the female giant panda at the Atlanta Zoo is pregnant! Below is the ultrasound and I’m so excited, you can even see the spine! I’m crossing my fingers that the baby will be born on my birthday next week, September 4th! The cub’s sister Mei Lan was so close, but she was born on the sixth.

Oh my, a panda baby on my birthday would be the BEST birthday present ever!

Keep up to date with the birth watch at the Atlanta Zoo’s website.

Thanks to Frances for being the first to alert me!

Still 10 PandaBands left, people. Get on it and email me your mailing address.  I’ll be sending them out this weekend.

Ok, off to bed. It’s been a long day. Sorry for the lack of pandas in this post.

Pandas and Such

I don’t remember how I stumbled upon this site, but I’ve been meaning to share it for quite some time. Renata Liwska is the author of a cute children’s panda book coming out this fall. October 27th, to be exact. A quick visit to her site lets you see what an amazing artist she is, and will surely make you want to preorder the book. I’ve already preordered mine for my little neice. I can’t wait!

Available for preorder on Amazon for only $10.36!

Also, I couldn’t resist sharing this adorable school portrait from her site!

Paper Panda Toys!

Once again, I found an adorable paper panda craft on Folding Trees! I love that site.

This time, they featured a cute little panda paper doll set from TheToyMaker.com. It’s a little panda kingdom complete with a palace. You can download the free cutouts directly from them here. My favorite part? The twins Bam and Boo! Eeep, too cute!

Don King and a Panda
