Thanks to the detective skills of my lovely readers (Bobbi & StannyG!) we now know that this little guy is named Bao Xin Chang and is the creation of the amazing soft sculpture artist Melisa Nichols. His eyelids, mouth and arms move and he’s made of mink. Of course this craftmanship and attention to detail will cost you. He’s currently up for auction at eBay and as of today (8/11) his price is a whopping $555.00 – and the reserve hasn’t been met yet!

If anyone feels the need to purchase this as an early birthday gift for me, I’d love you forever.

I must admit, the red glasses do make him quite endearing.

Apparently a Poken is a small USB looking device that you carry around with you at all times and can collect contact information from other Poken users. While this idea seems like a good one, I’m not quite sure it will take off. Almost everyone has a smartphone these days which makes this a bit obsolete. Oh well, still quite cute!

I really wish that the Coca-Cola Company would use this advertising campaign in the US, because I’d be more apt to buy soda from a panda covered vending machine! Polar bears are out, pandas are in! This one is apparently in Kobe Chinatown in Japan!
